The Grown Up Side of Seattle

Seattle Washington is a city that has a lot to offer young and old as a vacation destination. The really amazing thing about a city like Seattle is that many of the attractions that can appeal to young children can also appeal to older generations for similar and very different reasons.

One of the many attractions older visitors will enjoy, well, if there are flowers, is Woodland Park's rose garden. These gardens are free to visit and offer the best flowers if you visit between May and August.

The Seattle Aquarium is another point of interest for young and old alike.

Whether you're in your first or fifth grade, there's nothing more exciting than watching brilliant sea creatures swim overhead. When I was a kid, this was something that happened in science fiction, not real life.

Which brings me to my next timeless attraction: The Science Fiction Museum and Hall of Fame. This museum explores the history of science fiction and the impact it has had on the world we see today. I love how the ideas of the ancients inspired some of today's inventions. As a true sci-fi fan and fanatic, I thoroughly enjoy this museum and could spend days here. But I also have to admit that I see things here that belong to my father and others to my children. That's why the Science Fiction Museum made my list.

Underground tours are another thing that a mature person may find very interesting. I know I'm completely blown away not only by the story, but by listening to the story. This was one trip that was worth the price I paid. I would pay again if I did nothing but walk around the museum which requires admission to tour. Of course, the only way out of this trip is through the gift shop, which isn't really a problem. I have the will, indeed!

The Whale Museum and any whale watching tour is another attraction worth mentioning. If you've never seen one of these magnificent creatures up close, it's an awe-inspiring event and worth revisiting if you have. Young and old, whatever your size, it's amazing how small you can feel around these giant animals.

And then there's always the Private Eye tour in Seattle. This tour is not for the faint hearted, but if you are a fan of mystery novels or "true crime" you should find this particular tour great fun. There are three tours available: The Queen Anne Mystery and Murder Tour, the Capital Hill Mystery and Murder Tour, and the Haunted Happening — also called the Seattle Ghost Tour. Each of these tours costs $25 per person and lasts two and a half to three hours.

Whether you're young or just young, Seattle has something to offer everyone who visits. From the beautiful scenery that only nature can provide to the cultural center that this great city has become, I hope you will find plenty to keep you entertained during your stay.
